A tidy desk looks expensive even when the kit is not.
RGB only looks good if the desk underneath is calm. A large pad, matching black or white accessories, and cables that do not snake across the mat will beat a pile of glowing extras.
Pick one colour temperature and stick to it. Mixed pink, ice blue, and warm yellow in the same frame looks messy on camera and in person.
Start with the surface
Run power under the desk. A cheap tray or a few clips keep bricks off the floor where they collect dust.
Just a wide pad and some clips. Desk suddenly looked like the photos I kept saving.

One strip behind the monitor is enough backlight. You do not need every USB port occupied by a tiny lamp.
We stock the boring bits too
If you game and study at the same desk, use a scene that can go dim. Bright rainbow mode is fun for five minutes and tiring after that.
One large cloth pad instead of a tiny office mat.
A single backlight behind the monitor.
Cable clips or a tray under the desk.
Matching colours — not every hue at once.
A dimmer or software scene you can live with daily.
Mousepad size matters more than people think. If your aim runs off the edge, buy a wider cloth pad before you buy another mouse.
