A hub has one job: stay connected when you open the laptop lid.
Cheap hubs fail in boring ways: the monitor flickers, the SSD disappears, or the laptop stops charging. Buy for the ports you use every day, not the longest spec list.
Check whether your laptop’s USB-C port supports video. If it does not, no hub will invent HDMI.
Ports you will actually use
Power delivery through the hub should cover your charger wattage. Otherwise you still need a second brick.

Ethernet on a hub is useful in DHA offices with weak Wi-Fi. SD readers matter for cameras. Skip both if you never use them.

If you dock at a desk, a heavier hub with a short cable is kinder to the laptop port than a brick hanging off the side.
